About Us

Best Practice = Best Animal Welfare + Best Economic Return

Petrichor Pastoral is a Northern Australian livestock consultancy delivering practical, end-to-end support across procurement, marketing, and veterinary services. Founded by Dr. Charles Vaughan BVSc , Petrichor Pastoral was built to bridge the gap between paddock, port, and processor — combining on-ground cattle experience with commercial insight and veterinary expertise.

We work with producers, exporters, feedlots, and pastoral businesses who value clear communication, strong industry networks, and hands-on professionalism. Our services span cattle sourcing and backgrounding support, pregnancy testing and herd management, export preparation and protocol work, and strategic livestock marketing. Every engagement is grounded in animal welfare, operational efficiency, and measurable commercial outcomes.

Northern Australia presents unique challenges — distance, climate, logistics, and market volatility — and our approach is built for those realities. We operate with a practical mindset, transparent pricing, and a long-term partnership focus, ensuring clients can make confident decisions in a fast-moving market.

At its core, Petrichor Pastoral exists to help cattle businesses run smoother, market smarter, and perform stronger. We pride ourselves on reliability, integrity, and delivering work that stands up in the yards, on the books, and in the reputation of the people we serve.

Our Story

Petrichor Pastoral was built from years working inside Northern Australia’s live export and cattle supply chain, backed by time spent in-market and on-the-ground with producers.

Founder Dr. Charles Vaughan BVSc developed the business to provide practical support that understands both paddock realities and export pressures. Experience across procurement, veterinary work, and international livestock markets shaped a service focused on trust, animal welfare, and commercial outcomes.

Petrichor Pastoral exists to connect producers to opportunity, reduce friction in the supply chain, and deliver reliable expertise where it matters most — in the yards, on the vessel, and in the marketplace.
